Just about anyone can write a report and say anything they want...until someone issues a challenge and backs that challenge with facts.  That's where the authors of a recent report that claimed as much as 3 million acre-feet of water could be conserved from farm use with a few management changes find themselves after four university researchers took the time to investigate the suggested management changes.

Cattlemen are tipping their hats these days and scratching their heads as they try to second-guess Mother Nature.  Their hope is to be able to place their animals on winter range that will provide enough grass into the springtime months.
